This is the long awaited third book in the Da Vinci Code series and is one that Dan Brown has been working on for over 5 years. Although The Lost Symbol will not go on release until the 15th of September it has already reached number 4 in the charts on pre-orders alone.
It is set to revolutionize the publishing industry by offering various electronic versions that will run on Amazon's Kindle and Sony's Ebook Reader. This is expected to drive masses of new readers for this type of publication. With an initial print run of over six and a half million, The Lost Symbol will be one of the largest book launches in publishing history.
Whilst most folks will still prefer to read a book made of paper, the release of The Lost Symbol will undoubtedly introduce millions of new readers to electronic ebook devices changing, for some of them, the way they buy, carry, store and read books forever.
The Plot so far (World Exclusive: Prologue and first two chapters from The Mail on Sunday 13th September 2009)
FACT
The book starts by declaring that a document was lodged with the CIA in 1991. In that document reference was made to an ancient portal and to a phrase that "It's buried out there somewhere" - that document is still with the CIA today.
The Prologue is set in the House of the Temple at 8:33 pm where someone is being initiated into a Freemasons type order and whilst this is happening that person is all the time thinking that they are about to learn the innermost secrets of the organization - information that they will use for evil purposes. The Prologue finishes with the line "Soon you will lose everything you hold most dear".
Chapter 1
Sees the speedy introduction of Robert Langdon who is being flown by private jet to Washington to meet up with "The other man I never want to disappoint" Peter Solomon the historian and scientist who took Langdon under his wing 30 years ago. This chapter leaves us with him being chauffeured to Solomon's residence where he is "Arriving under a veil of secrecy".
Chapter 2
Introduces the initiate as Mal'akh, who is tattooed from head to toe with the exception of his pate, which is due to be completed this evening in some sort of prearranged ritual that would soon "shake the US Capitol Building".
Well, until the full release tomorrow, no more reviews are possible but we hope this has given you a peek into what will undoubtedly be Dan Brown's greatest novel to date.
